| About Contact North/Contact Nord |
Contact North/Contact Nord is Northern Ontario’s Distance Education & Training Network. Based in Sudbury and Thunder Bay, we help extend economic development in Northern Ontario by facilitating access to education and training opportunities for residents in small and remote communities. We are a not-for-profit corporation funded by the Government of Ontario.
Despite the barriers of distance and sparse population, we provide an opportunity for learners, instructors and trainers to meet and interact in real-time, virtual classrooms. These ‘classrooms’ are located in 145 Distance Education & Training Access Centres in over 100 small and remote communities throughout Northern Ontario.
Students and learners are able to access the academic and training programs offered by Northern Ontario’s colleges, universities and school boards in their community through state-of-the-art audioconferencing and videoconferencing technology located throughout Northern Ontario.
|
In addition, we offer our services to the private and public sectors to conduct meetings, training sessions, consultations and other events using our technology.
We can be found on line at www.cnorth.edu.on.ca.

| About TBayTel (Corporate Partner) |
Since 1877, TBayTel has pioneered new technologies in Thunder Bay and Northwestern Ontario. From our early origins, when we were formed to offer customers access to telephone technology that the national company refused to provide, TBayTel continues to lead the region as a major provider of telecommunications services.
Our employees have steadfastly enhanced our local economy, provided a stable platform for business growth, introduced new telecommunications products and services, often long before other markets of this size, placed customer service and employee relations at the top of their priority list, and shown true-and selfless-support for literally thousands of community activities across a history spanning more than a century.
TBayTel is connected to the community. It is owned by the City of Thunder Bay and generates millions of dollars in profits for the City every year. It is a significant local employer, and a major head office in the region. In addition to the profits it generates, it sponsors numerous local events and charities throughout the City every year.
|
TBayTel is also dedicated to protecting the local environment. Each year since 1990, TBayTel has mounted an aggressive campaign to recycle TBayTel Directories, and has collected some 350 tons of Directories to date.
