In the fall of 2000, Contact North/Contact Nord launched an exciting, new initiative called the Emerging Technologies Series.
As part of Contact North/Contact Nord’s overall mandate to extend economic development in Northern Ontario, the goal of the Emerging Technologies Series is to introduce the latest technologies to decision-makers and leaders from the business, education, health care and government sectors in this part of Ontario.
Since the launch of the Emerging Technologies Series in 2000, Contact North/Contact Nord has hosted two extremely successful conferences.
|
| Emerging Technologies 2001 in Sudbury |
The first conference was held in Sudbury in February of 2001. Emerging Technologies 2001 focused on the potential and future of wireless communications. The two day event, held at Sudbury's Howard Johnson Hotel, was a sellout with close to 400 participants and speakers attending despite a snowstorm!
Participants had the opportunity to interact with a variety of Canadian and international speakers and learn more about the potential for wireless communications. |
Contact North/Contact Nord extends its sincere appreciation to our partner, the former Ontario Ministry of Energy, Science and Technology for their support of Emerging Technologies 2001.

| Emerging Technologies 2001 in Thunder Bay |
| The second conference in the series was held in Thunder Bay in October of 2001 in order to give participants in Northwestern Ontario an opportunity to learn more about the future of wireless communications. A capacity crowd of 350 participants and speakers gathered at the Valhalla Inn for the conference. |
We were pleased to welcome TBayTel as our corporate partner for this event, in addition to the former Ontario Ministry of Energy, Science and Technology. We thank both organizations for their support of this important conference.
